Founder + Executive Director
Hi Everyone! my name Stephanie Olarte I am an advocate for Disability Rights, Reproductive Justice, Women’s Rights, Racial Justice, Immigrant Rights amongst so many other issues that our country and the world go through. I am also an organizer, event and workshop planner and a woman with a disability that loves to take risks! I am aware of my limits and I embrace my disability as an asset because despite what people think, my disability has made me strong and resilient. I have a Master’s in Political Science and a Bachelors in Global Tourism. Going to school and beginning a career in something I love was a goal that I made sure I could achieve. I am grateful for the support and motivation given to me by family (Mother and Sister) and my friends. I am not done though I see a PhD in the future!
I decided to start CaneIwalk because I was getting tired of being the ONLY Latina with a disability in spaces like boards, coalitions, and organizations that were committed to doing progressive work in our communities without doing a good job on intersectional work with communities of color or people with disabilities
